I spend a lot of time looking for wedding ideas…themes, decor, lighting, ceremony backdrops, centerpieces…you name it and I’ve probably looked for it. One of the popular themes that I run in to time and time again is that of a “rustic” wedding. I’m going to be honest, it is a theme that fits well around this area. With all the old pioneer heritage, cowboys and farmers that surround this area, we should be able to find an amazing venue to pull off some of these absolutely amazing events.
Next time that you’re driving around and you see an old barn in the back of that farmer’s field, take a minute and picture this…

I love the rustic, “welcome to my barn” feel that this wedding provides. Wheat grass compliments every detail of this event and adds a great texture to the decor. And, what about the apple cider bar…isn’t that adorable?
As much as I love the idea of a rustic wedding, if it happened to be my own I would have to add a little bit of glam to the event. You can still have the old barn as the venue and even pull in the straw bales and quilts. But, adding just a touch of glam brings in a whole new feel to this old barn.

Incorporating touches of floral throughout the decor will bring in that glamorous element. And, don’t forget the lighting…it’s all about the lighting! Candles, chandeliers and tea lights will all add that touch of romanticism that you might be looking for!
And, speaking of lighting – I found this awesome little piece that would be so easy to make. Imagine this hanging in a group of trees or over the head table. It’s nothing to oooo and ahhh over when the sun is up, but when the sun sets and darkness takes over the skies, this little fixture turns into something amazing!

Last, but not least, you can’t forget about the rustic themed thank you gifts for your guests. Favors are an excellent way to add decor to your event and also provide your guests with something to take home…something to remember you by.

As summer weddings approach and I have more and more brides that are booking up those days, I can’t help but imagine that I’ll have the chance to let my “rustic” or “rustic glam” side show. I can’t wait because somebody is going to have an amazing wedding in a barn that most people would have never dreamed could look this way!
