ABC’s of Weddings | Letter C

For your wedding you should be allowed to have your cake and eat it too! “C” is for cake! Flavors, styles, display…it all factors in to the overall appeal of your cake. There are a few questions that you can ask yourself to help determine what it is you’re looking for?

1.  Are you serving your cake or is it there as a decor piece? It used to be that every wedding/reception served cake. As time has passed, guests have started getting a better variety of food and desserts at weddings. It’s becoming more and more common to see the bride and groom as the only ones who enjoy a slice of cake. Many couples choose to have their cake as a decor piece at their wedding and have only one layer of real cake for themselves to cut and feed to one another. Don’t be afraid to go with either of these suggestions. It’s all about what works for you!

2.  What is the theme of your wedding and how will your cake compliment that theme? To make this really short and simple…you can’t put a very vintage, classic cake into a modern, chic styled wedding!

3.  What are your favorite cake flavors? Are you a more traditional flavor kind of person or would you prefer to go with something a little more exotic? Chocolate and vanilla are always there to satisfy those who may want to stick with something a little more traditional. When it comes to flavors that may be something you don’t see at every reception, you may want to think about flavors along the lines of pina colada, orange dreamsicle or banana. Let your creativity flow and most cake artists will be able to accomodate your requests.

There are many other small factors that your cake artist will be able to help you with. Good luck and enjoy your cake!
