“D” is for one of the most important parts of your wedding…it’s your dress! One of the first things that cross your mind after that shiny, new diamond is placed on your fingers is often the question of “Where and when do I start shopping for my dress?” It seems that there are so many options when it comes to style, designer and even price.
You can begin your search by sitting right here at your computer. Start looking for some of your local bridal stores and find the designer and lines that they carry. Most of them will have page after page of dresses that you can browse through while sitting at your computer. Of course, the time is going to come when you want to try on that special dress. When you go into a bridal store make sure that you go in with an open mind. Let your attendant at the store guide you in the right direction. And, don’t be afraid to try on different styles. Many times a bride will walk out of the store purchasing something that she never would have tried on if it wasn’t for the sake of someone else suggesting it. (That’s exactly what happened to me!)

Another important dress that will be part of your wedding day is your bridesmaids dresses. Your bridesmaid dresses should compliment the style and theme of your wedding. It’s oftentimes hard to find a dress that will fit the many different styles, sizes and shapes of your bridesmaids so don’t be afraid to let them be part of the decision process. Schedule a time that you and your “girls” can get together to go shopping. Keep in mind that many of your bridal stores will also carry bridesmaid dresses and can accommodate you with appointments to fit your bridesmaids.

As you begin the search for the most important dress of your life, I hope that you remember to enjoy yourself. It’s a time that you will never get back. Surround yourself with the people that mean the most to you…have fun spending numerous hours trying on beautiful dresses…and, most of all, remember how beautiful you feel this day because there’s only one other day that will make you feel this way again; it will be your wedding day!
